We recently finished making a video from all the footage we shot last year in the studio while recording our album. Press the play button above to watch the film or alternatively click here
Thanks also to all of you who have been joining our social network pages over the last few weeks. We've had a fantastic response recently particularly on Facebook where our page went from 45 fans to over 250 in a couple of weeks. Please help us to keep our pages growing by visiting us on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and YouTube via the links below and help spread the word.
It's this simple... ...just 2 clicks. 1st click is on the link below and the 2nd is the 'Vote Now' button at the bottom of our Triumph Live page. http://www.bandsbattle.co.uk/viewalbum.php?id=77 If we get enough votes we will be shortlisted to support The Stranglers and Mumford & Sons at Triumph Live this September and invited to play a secret gig to decide the winning band. Please do us a huge favour by voting and forwarding this email on to as many family and friends as you can to help drum up some support. Also a massive thanks to everyone who has already voted via our Facebook and Twitter pages. We're currently in 4th place! Toby, Dave, Andy & Steve (Burning Shapes)
It's been a crazy busy week in the Burning Shapes camp which kicked off a week last Sunday with an acoustic gig at the Grey Lady in Tunbridge Wells. A very limited edition CD pressing of our debut EP arrived on our doorstep and became available at the show and will be on sale at future gigs while stocks last.
Then on Tuesday we were recording drums in a seriously cool studio... Lightship95, built in the hull of a bright red ship docked in Londons east end. Two days later we were rehearsing early (pre 9am) before loading the cars and heading up to the Triumph factory near Leicester to compete in the Triumph Live band battle showcase. The prize was a chance to support The Stranglers and Mumford & Sons in front of 10,000 festival goers at Mallory Park in September in celebration of the motorcycle companies 20 year anniversary. It all started with a 2 month online voting campaign (which we wrote about last newsletter so thank you so, so much everyone who voted) and finished with 7 bands from all over the UK in a warehouse playing for audience and judge votes for a place at the festival. We got through :)
Then to top it all off we played in front of a huge crowd at the fantastic and ever growing Local & Live festival in Tunbridge Wells. Event organiser Paul Dunton once again excelled at putting on an amazing 4 days of live music featuring over 50 local acts. The whole festival is run by volunteers and is an amazing achievement for live music in our local area so a massive thanks to everyone involved. We had a blast!
We're playing Triumph Live with Mumfords & Stranglers... thank you!
On September 18th we'll be one of seven bands including The Stranglers and Mumford & Sons playing at Mallory Park to celebrate Triumphs 20 year anniversary. Once again thank you so much everyone who helped to get us here by voting online, word spreading and attending the live showcase final last week. Now to more pressing matters... there is just one more week to pre order tickets (after which there will be a limited number available on the day). We'd love to see you there so if you're free come along for an awesome line up of summer music.
To buy your ticket or find out more about the festival visit http://www.triumph-live.co.uk/
Debut EP now on CD
Our debut EP featuring 3 tracks is now available to buy at live shows. It is a very limited edition pressing (numbered by hand) and will only be available on CD.
1. Lonely Fishes
2. Someone Else's Words
We've just played Triumph Live to our biggest ever audience, supporting BBC festival band of the year 'Mumford and Sons' and the legends that are 'The Stranglers'. Not bad for only our 5th gig as Burning Shapes. There was plenty of activity and photos uploaded to Facebook by various people at the gig but we've got a few of our pics from the day now uploaded for you to look take a mosey at via the link below:
We've got some more recording sessions coming up later this week so we thought we'd finally get round to posting some of the snaps we got from our last studio session on the very remarkable Lightship95 (a studio in the hull of a big red light ship docked in the east end of London... ooh ahh)
Thanks for reading! With all the recent and upcoming activity there's plenty of media still to sift through so we'll be back soon with more news and interesting stuff
We got our debut Burning Shapes airplay a week last Sunday when the BBC Kent Introducing team decided to give Lonely Fishes a spin on their show which is dedicated to featuring under the radar, up and coming music from the local area. You've just got time to catch the show on the iPlayer at the link below. We're on about 28.30 in if you're in a hurry.
Admittedly it has been a while since our last post so apologies but we've been saving up the news and have plenty to report. 2011 is set to be a super busy year with lots and lots of gigs as well as a bunch of single releases and eventually our full length debut album launch. In fact we recently returned from Wales where we've just finished mastering the record and we are very excited about it.
Our first gigs of the year are starting to pile up (see live shows page), we've launched a series of weekly micro-clips on our YouTube channel and we're about to shoot a music video for our first single. As the director wrote on our Facebook page "...anytime you write a production update that reads "I've found a chicken we can shoot with all we need now is the tricycle and a kitchen supplies store, checking out the mountain at the weekend" you know it's going to be a pretty interesting shoot."
A little over a month ago we started posting a series of super short video clips on our YouTube channel. The bite size micro-clips are only 10-20 seconds long and feature some humorous behind the scenes band moments as well as a sneak preview of some of the tracks from the forthcoming album.
Check them out on our YouTube channel
Hurrah it is here! We have been beavering away for a while now on our new website and are pleased to say it is finally ready for a little outing into the World Wide Web. There may be a few teething problems while it is fresh faced and finding it's feet but hopefully it will behave for you.
We are adding new gigs, news and media all the time and will also be announcing some very exciting new site features soon regarding the release of our forthcoming singles and album so please stay tuned.
It is with great excitement that we can now announce our debut single 'Drop' is going to be released on 25th July 2011. The single will be available as a digital download from all digital outlets including iTunes and Amazon. We've also got a bunch of live shows coming up to promote the single all over the south east UK including the Music Video premier Friday 8th July at The Good Ship in London (Kilburn) and our single launch party on Friday 22nd July at Nambucca in London.
Our friends at Coffee Films have made an epic music video for 'Drop' - shot across the south east over five days this spring and bringing together miniature trains, chickens, oversleeping, kitchenware shopping, Home Counties Kent, London's top sightseeing destinations and the Tube. A massive thanks to Steve Piper who directed, shot and edited the video. We are proper chuffed with it and can't wait till 8th July where it will get it's first public screening at our Good Ship gig. The full music video will appear online from 9th July but until then you can check out the teaser trailer here. Run Dave run!!!
